Developmental Screenings

Ashton-Franklin Center CUSD #275 offers free developmental screenings to assess young children’s skills throughout the school year. These screenings are conducted by a team of District Educators and Specialists and are available for families whose children are 2.5 - 5 years of age and do NOT qualify for kindergarten based on their date of birth.

A Developmental Screening assesses your child’s development in the areas of:

  • Speech/Language

  • Fine/Gross Motor

  • Cognition/Pre-Academics

  • Social-Emotional & Behavioral

  • Self-Care/Help

Screenings will take place at Ashton-Franklin Center Elementary School (217 S. Elm Street Franklin Grove, IL 61031). A screening takes approximately one hour to complete. Afterward, parents will have the opportunity to discuss the results of the screening, as well as any concerns about their child, with a member of the screening team.

Appointments are necessary and students must be pre-registered to participate. Proof of child age and residency is required to register.

***Please be aware that Early Childhood Screenings are NOT kindergarten readiness screenings.
