Thank you for your interest in Ashton Franklin-Center — where students LEARN, GROW and THRIVE.

About Our Schools

Ashton- Franklin Center offers families the friendly, comfortable, safe atmosphere of a smaller school community — one where every child is known and can be involved — along with partnerships that give our students access to even more opportunities. Our class sizes range from 13 to the low 20s, depending on the grade level and class.

Elementary

Our youngest learners develop a strong foundation at Ashton- Franklin Center Elementary. In addition to the core subjects and electives like band and choir, students learn the Raider Way: What it means to be RESPECTFUL, RESPONSIBLE, SAFE and KIND.

Jr/Sr High School

Beyond the comprehensive high school curriculum at Ashton-Franklin Center High School, we work with an online partner to offer some upper-level electives and other courses that students are interested in, including upper-level Spanish, American Sign Language and Forensics.

Dual College Credit

High school students can earn dual credit through our partnership with Sauk Valley Community College in Dixon, and many of our students earn tuition credits by completing community service through Sauk Valley Community College’s Impact Program. AFC students also have access to dual credit options and extensive vocational training through Whiteside Area Career Center, which offers programs ranging from automotive technology to allied health to the culinary arts.

We are always open to expanding options based on student interests and recently started a new Pathway program for students who aspire to become educators.

Activities & Athletics

Student athletes can participate in football, basketball, cross-country, track, baseball, softball, volleyball, cheerleading, golf, and swim team (some at AFC and some through co-operative agreements with other area high schools). Other extracurricular options at AFC include a vibrant music program, Scholastic Bowl and Future Farmers of America.
