Early Childhood Special Education

Ashton-Franklin Center CUSD #275 offers an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Program catering to children aged 3-5 in the AFC and Amboy areas. Our program is designed to provide educational services for students with diverse disabilities.

Students are referred to our program through Early Intervention or Developmental Screenings. Following a referral, a play-based assessment is arranged. A team of Early Childhood Special Education specialists conducts an evaluation of the child's skills and engages with the family to determine if the child's development is age-appropriate or if there are developmental delays warranting the child's eligibility for services. If a student qualifies, they become eligible for our program upon reaching three years of age.
