AFC High School students participated in Student Government Elections for the 2026–2027 school year. The process included campaigning, speeches, and an official election. Good luck to all of our candidates!

📢📢There has been a change in putting up and removing of the flags for Memorial Day in Ashton due to potential wind and storms this weekend. We will NOT be decorating tomorrow (Saturday). We will be decorating at 7 am Monday morning and then taking them down at 3 PM Monday.

Mrs. Ramsdell's fifth grade class attended The World War II Reenactment sponsored by the Franklin Grove Area Historical Society as part of the United States' 250th Anniversary celebration. The students asked a lot of questions and experienced a lot of hands on learning.

To help the third graders understand the different struggles and learning styles in the 1800's, Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. DuBois took the third graders to the Chana Schoolhouse Museum in Oregon, IL to experience a day in the life of a student in 1883. Along with traditional reading and arithmetic, the students learned penmanship, archaeology, and nature sciences. The favorite lessons overall were making candles, playing checkers, and using stilts. We wish to extend a most gracious thank you to the museum volunteers for an enjoyable learning experience.

The baseball IHSA Quarterfinal game will be played on Monday 5/25 starting at 4:30pm. The field is located at Leland High School 300 N. Main St. Leland, IL 60531. There will be NO admission cost for the game.

Congratulations to Ms. Dempsey on your retirement! Thank you for your years of dedication and passion as a science teacher at AFC High School. Wishing you all the best in this exciting new chapter!

1st Graders have been so "egg-cited" watching our chicks hatch! We have been studying life cycles and welcomed 15 baby chicks into our room. Getting to hold our fluffy little visitors is always a highlight of our life cycle learning experience.

The game against Pearl City has been moved to Tuesday 5/19. JV will play first at 4:30pm; Varsity will play after under the lights. Please help spread the word. Go Raiders!

School safety day was a huge success! Community members came and did an amazing job focusing on important topics like school bus safety, crosswalk/railroad safety, calling 911, ATV / side by side safety, bike safety, stranger danger and an all time favorite from the Franklin Grove fire department featuring fire safety using the Sauk Valley smoke house. Thank you to all the volunteers that gave up their day to prepare our kids on how to safe in all kinds of circumstances!

Mr. Nate Davis from Etnyre visited our Ag Mechanics & Construction class to discuss careers in welding and skilled trades with students. He also spent time in the shop demonstrating welding techniques and working alongside the class. Thank you to Mr. Davis and Etnyre for providing students with valuable hands-on learning experiences and career insight!
