State FFA Officer Riley Kessler and Section Officers Emma Dinges and Bryson Full visited AFC on October 2nd for a chapter visit. They talked with the Intro to Agriculture class about the three circles of agricultural education: the FFA, the classroom, and the workplace. Students took part in a lockbox activity where they had to look through documents relating to each of the three circles to find clues to open the locks. Students also participated in a goal-setting activity to help plan for their futures. #AFCFFA

1st-4th graders have been working hard trying new drawing mediums and drawing from observation. These are some of the kids working and their "finished" drawings. (Students were only allowed three minutes to do each drawing; working quickly requires them to just do it and not get blocked by mistakes.). Look at how amazing these first graders did!!! #afcart

Science Students have been busy experimenting in the laboratory. Chemistry students used density rules to determine if Double Stuffed Oreos were really double stuffed. Biology worked on developing ways to keep fresh flowers fresh longer. The drink PRIME kept them fresh for two weeks! Advanced science students used their knowledge of hydrocarbons to create soap using olive oil and sodium hydroxide.

Mrs. Penick’s Algebra 1 class collected statistical data by testing their reaction time. Students measured when they caught a dropped ruler while doing various activities. For example, standing on two feet vs one foot, dominant hand vs non dominant hand, one eye closed vs both eyes opened. Even Mrs. Penick got in on the action.
