Reminders:
1) Winter sports athletes need to be registered on the AFC athletics site and have an updated physical on file with Mrs. Gittleson.
2) Winter sports pictures will be taken tomorrow afternoon at the HS and ES. Forms have or will be sent home with athletes for ordering.
3) HS volleyball, football, and football cheer banquet is Sunday at 1:00 in the JH gym. Families of seniors should bring a meat dish. Families of juniors should bring a vegetable dish. Families of sophomores should bring a fruit dish. Families of freshman should bring a dessert. All families should bring their own table service. Pop and water will be provided.

ISO: Mrs. Gittleson is looking for help at the Varsity Boys Basketball Thanksgiving Tournament. The following help is needed:
Ticket Takers: 1 on Monday, 1 on Tuesday, 2 on Friday, and 2 on Saturday.
Concession Stand Group: Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday
Profits from the concession stand will go to the group that works it. If a group wants to do multiple nights, that would be great!
Ticket Takers get paid for helping.

Ashton-Franklin Center Jr/Sr High School will host a community interactive exhibit on November 21st during the Boy's Basketball AFC Tournament and District Board meeting. We encourage you to stop in before the Board meeting or on your way to the next tournament game.
Today Jr/Sr High students attended the community Veteran’s Day assembly. Students took advantage of this opportunity to shake the hand of each veteran and thank them for their service. We are grateful for this learning opportunity for our students. Thank you to Mr Treadwell and Mr Cissna for organizing our time there. Thank you to the FFA members that assisted with the set up for the event. A final thank you to the veterans of our AFC community for your service and sacrifice.

Come out tonight and see what our winter sports teams look like! All of our athletes will be introduced. Our cheer squad will perform and our basketball teams will give you a sneak peek at what they are all about. There will even be a few fun competitions among our girls and boys basketball teams! Festivities begin at 7:00 in the high school gym. Our athletes would love to have you come and show your support. Hope to see you there!

Meet Mrs. Chapman!
Mrs. Chapman is AFC Elementary School's Licensed Social Worker. She has been such a wonderful addition to our school community. She is always ready with a high five and positive words of encouragement for our students. We are blessed to have her and excited to share a little about her.

Congratulations to AFC FFA members Jacob Warrenfeltz, who was 3rd place individual in the Dairy Foods Career Development Event and Kate Viall, who placed 1st in the Middle School Agronomy Career Development Event. The Section 2 Grain Fair was also held, with 3 members participating. #AFCFFA
NHS officers welcome new members in a creative way this morning.
The AFC Jr/Sr High School will be traveling to the Mills and Petrie building in Ashton on Friday, November 11 from 10:00 to 11:15. The local American Legion is hosting the school for a Veteran’s day ceremony where students will have the opportunity to learn from local veterans about the sacrifices made by individuals to ensure safety, security, and freedom for all Americans. We are thankful for the VFW as they help create valuable learning opportunities for our students.
Members of the AFC FFA Chapter took advantage of the beautiful sunshine and enjoyed an outing to Prairie Fire on their day off. #AFCFFA
The 7th and 8th grade basketball game will be played in Oregon at the high school. It will be played in the OHS gym and not the Blackhawk Center.

Mr. Cissna's 7th and 8th grade Social Studies classes conducted a mock election in class today. From voter registration cards, to election judge procedures, to the voting steps they learned about their civic duty at election time. A big thank you to Ogle County Clerk Laura Cook for the donation of "I voted" pens and stickers. As well, a shout-out to Mr. Cissna for brining real world experiences to the classroom to better prepare our students to be contributing members of our community.

High school boys basketball practice begins Monday, November 7 at 6:00 PM in the high school gym. JV and Varsity will practice together. A 2 month calendar will be handed out at practice on Monday.
