Mrs. McKay and Mrs. Penicks’ math students took advantage of the outdoors and spent the class period plotting rational and irrational numbers along the sidewalks.
We are excited to see Table Top Club back up and running at Ashton-Franklin Center Jr/Sr High School.
Still looking for a 6th grade, 7th grade, and 8th grade boys basketball coach. The season begins the first week in October and ends the 1st week in December. This is a friendly reminder that you are able to pay your school lunch fees online through Skyward. You can also send money to school with your child. Mrs. Pitzer will do an "ALL CALL" for lunch money on Monday and Thursday mornings. At this time, students can come to the office to turn in money for lunch fees. Please email jburkitt@afcschools.net if you have any questions.
There is a change in the lunch menu for tomorrow, August 24th. Instead of chicken drums, we will be serving chicken tenders.
Because of transportation issues, the 7th grade volleyball games at Pecatonica (8/25) and Stillman Valley (9/1) will begin at 4:30 rather than 4:00 with the 8th grade game to follow.

Shout Out to AFC Community! There was a lot going on this past weekend for AFC: Meet the Raiders, Booster Bash, and PTC Color Run. The support for AFC was very evident at all 3 events by the number of students, athletes, families, and friends that were at each event. Watching our students and athletes volunteer at the Booster Bash and Color Run was amazing! From the AFC Athletic Department: Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! This past weekend was a testament to AFC!

At Meet the Raiders this evening, the Boosters will be selling parent ads for the Fall Sports program. For $15, you can put a personalized ad in the program. Show your favorite athlete(s) how much you support them by buying an ad!
Booster Bash tickets will also be for sale this evening for $25, includes supper and entry into drawing.

This is a friendly reminder that if your child is bringing a lunch from home and would like a milk OR if they would like an extra milk, the cost is 25 cents.
I also have some information for students who ride the shuttle bus from the Jr/Sr High School in Ashton to the ES in Franklin Grove in the morning. We have two shuttle buses bringing kids over. The first bus (Mrs. James) will arrive around 7:45. She has a limited number of spots due to also having route students. The second bus (Mr. Harvey) will arrive around 7:55 and leave at 8:00. All remaining shuttle students should ride this bus over to the ES.
Don't forget Meet the Raiders tonight at 6:00 in the HS gym. All athletes participating in Fall Sports will be introduced and there will be parent meetings with the high school coaches at the end of the night. Come meet our athletes and coaches and show them your support!

Athletes and Parents: Just a reminder that all athletes participating in a Fall sport need to be registered online (8 to 18) and have an updated physical on file with Mrs. Gittleson. Any students interested in submitting artwork for the Grand Detour art show at the John Deere site on September 12, 2022 should bring their artwork to Mrs. Coffman by Friday, August 19. Students are able to submit up to two pieces. Any students in grades K through 12 may submit work. The artwork can be work they made at school or at home. #afcart
Attention AFC Parents/Guardians,
We still have several students missing medical records such as physicals, immunizations, vision exams, and dental exams. Beginning September 1st, students who remain noncompliant with proof of physical and immunization records will be excluded from school. Please turn these forms into our district nurse, Rita Yahnke, as soon as possible. These can be brought with you on Back to School Night, sent with your child on the first day of school, or faxed to us at (815) 456-2713 (ES) or (815) 453-7462 (Jr/Sr HS).

Come out and meet all of our Fall Sports teams, including our athletes who participate in golf and cross country at Amboy, at Meet the Raiders on Friday, August 19 at 6:00 in HS Gym. It is a great night to get together and show our athletes that the community supports them!
