Shout Out to AFC Community! There was a lot going on this past weekend for AFC: Meet the Raiders, Booster Bash, and PTC Color Run. The support for AFC was very evident at all 3 events by the number of students, athletes, families, and friends that were at each event. Watching our students and athletes volunteer at the Booster Bash and Color Run was amazing! From the AFC Athletic Department: Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! This past weekend was a testament to AFC!

At Meet the Raiders this evening, the Boosters will be selling parent ads for the Fall Sports program. For $15, you can put a personalized ad in the program. Show your favorite athlete(s) how much you support them by buying an ad!
Booster Bash tickets will also be for sale this evening for $25, includes supper and entry into drawing.

This is a friendly reminder that if your child is bringing a lunch from home and would like a milk OR if they would like an extra milk, the cost is 25 cents.
I also have some information for students who ride the shuttle bus from the Jr/Sr High School in Ashton to the ES in Franklin Grove in the morning. We have two shuttle buses bringing kids over. The first bus (Mrs. James) will arrive around 7:45. She has a limited number of spots due to also having route students. The second bus (Mr. Harvey) will arrive around 7:55 and leave at 8:00. All remaining shuttle students should ride this bus over to the ES.
Don't forget Meet the Raiders tonight at 6:00 in the HS gym. All athletes participating in Fall Sports will be introduced and there will be parent meetings with the high school coaches at the end of the night. Come meet our athletes and coaches and show them your support!

Athletes and Parents: Just a reminder that all athletes participating in a Fall sport need to be registered online (8 to 18) and have an updated physical on file with Mrs. Gittleson. Any students interested in submitting artwork for the Grand Detour art show at the John Deere site on September 12, 2022 should bring their artwork to Mrs. Coffman by Friday, August 19. Students are able to submit up to two pieces. Any students in grades K through 12 may submit work. The artwork can be work they made at school or at home. #afcart
Attention AFC Parents/Guardians,
We still have several students missing medical records such as physicals, immunizations, vision exams, and dental exams. Beginning September 1st, students who remain noncompliant with proof of physical and immunization records will be excluded from school. Please turn these forms into our district nurse, Rita Yahnke, as soon as possible. These can be brought with you on Back to School Night, sent with your child on the first day of school, or faxed to us at (815) 456-2713 (ES) or (815) 453-7462 (Jr/Sr HS).

Online registration is now open for Fall Sports. Parents of athletes participating in 6/7/8 VB, HS VB, HS FB, HS XC, or HS Golf need to register their son/daughter online. On afcschools.net, click on athletics tab, click on registration, and follow the directions. If you are new to the system, you will need to set up an account and will need your insurance info. If you have registered a student before, you should have an account and be able to make a few clicks in the correct spot. Here is a list of practice schedules for the Fall Sports Teams:
6th Grade VB: Start 8/15, 3:30-5:00 at ES. Will practice at same time daily.
7th Grade VB: Start 8/9, 3:00-5:00 in JH gym. Will practice 8/10 and 8/12 at same time with 8th grade. Further schedule will be given to girls at practice.
8th Grade VB: Start 8/8, 3:00-5:00 in JH gym. Will practice 8/10 and 8/12 at same time with 7th grade. Further schedule will be given to girls at practice.
Freshman VB: Start 8/8, 5:00-7:00 in HS gym. Will practice daily at same time.
JV/Var VB: Start 8/8, 6:00-8:00 in HS gym. Will practice daily at same time.
HS FB: Start 8/8, 4:30-6:00 at FB field in Franklin Grove.
HS Golf: Start 8/10, 4:00 at Shady Oaks CC in Amboy. Will practice daily except Tuesdays while Men's league is happening.
HS XC: Start 8/8, 3;45 at Amboy HS. Will practice daily at same time.
