Student Council hosted a country western morp recently! A fun time was had by all!

March Madness: 2nd grade invited community members to come in and read our students. Then, the students voted on their favorite book each week. Here are a few pictures from our guest readers. We had so much fun with this and they loved getting to know more people around town or around our building.

The FFA chapter members, supporters, and alumni gathered to celebrate the chapter’s accomplishments over the past year. During the event, nineteen community members were recognized for their generous support of the program. Thirteen seventh-grade students were acknowledged for their participation in the agricultural program, twenty-two eighth-grade students received the Discovery FFA Degree, twenty-nine students earned the Greenhand FFA Degree, and nine members were awarded the Chapter FFA Degree.

Special recognitions were also presented to outstanding members. Raelynn Grover was named the Star Discovery member, while Samantha James and Elsie Viall were recognized as the Star Greenhand members. Austin Waters received the 2025–2026 Leadership Award in recognition of his dedication and leadership within the chapter.

In addition, the chapter proudly awarded Mr. Lindy and Mrs. Hurt the Honorary Chapter FFA Degree for their continued support, encouragement, and service in helping advance the chapter and its mission.

Congratulations to all of the award recipients, and thank you to the many individuals and community members who continue to support the Agriculture Department and FFA Chapter.

The Village of Progress partnered with the Agricultural Mechanics program to create custom cutting boards for Village of Progress consumers. Students in Mrs. McMillan’s Agricultural Construction and Mechanics class reviewed shop safety standards and worked alongside Jeremy and Candice to guide them through the cutting board construction process. We are proud to collaborate with community organizations to support hands-on learning and foster a shared environment of growth and skill development.

All AFC Schools Closed Monday March 16th

Due to a Blizzard Warning that has been issued for the AFC area, all AFC schools will be closed tomorrow, Monday March 16th. All extra curricular activities are cancelled as well.

Almost the entire NHS crew spent Tuesday serving at Feed My Starving Children in Aurora, where they helped build boxes and pack meals for children around the world. Their efforts made a big difference. The meals packed during their session will help feed 48 children for an entire year. We are proud of their commitment to service.

Congratulations to our AFC Varsity Scholastic Bowl Team on an incredible season! Our Raiders showed up and competed at the highest level:

Conference Champions: Undefeated in NUIC South play.

Tournament Leaders: 3rd Place in both the NUIC Tournament and the Masonic 1A Sectionals.

Regional Finalists: Defeated Stillman Valley and Oregon at the IHSA Regional.

The team’s run ended with a hard-fought battle in the Regional Championship against Keith Country Day, a nationally ranked powerhouse. We are incredibly proud of your hard work and dedication. Great season, everyone!

Good luck to the 8th Grade Lady Raiders as they take on Byron tonight at 5pm in Winnebago for the Rt. 72 Conference Championship! Come out and support your Lady Raiders!

AFC elementary students had a great time mastering the ups and downs of roller skating. After a week of skating, the kids all showed incredible improvement with their balance, skating speed, learning to stand/stop and even adding in some skating tricks. The older students were a huge help giving the little ones a hand -the kids put in a lot of hard work and sweat but smiles were all around!
